Scott Ehlert Interview

Scott Ehlert is a dude outta florida with a style like nobody else. I honestly don't know what to call half the shit he does. I got to talk to Scott a little and he's a great guy. I wanted to do a little bio/interview with him exclusively for this blog and i'm really excited about how pumped he was on the idea. So here's one of his most recent edits, and check out his vimeo page, he's got a ton more great ones on there.

Arik Elstran, Joe Battaglia, Mike Meister, Dennis Enarson, and Mark Webb

What is your favorite setup to ride?
A wooden bowl with different corners, angles, and heights

You obviously have a very technical and creative style of riding, what do you think draws you to that as opposed to maybe a flowy trail style?
I grew up going to the little prefab skateparks, and there was not a whole lot to do. After 15 minutes of riding I would I get bored and just start trying new, weird, and fun tricks. It is hard to have a flowy trail style at such small parks. 

What would you like to see more of in bmx?
I would like to see less hating going on and more riders being creative and doing tricks that they love to do. There is not a doubt that the progression has increased dramatically. With this said, imagine how much more creativity can happen. 

Five favorite tricks: 
Nothing, no-handed smith grind, cannonball, 'surf-grind', and switch one-handed no-footer

Describe a perfect day of riding:
Have lunch with friends, go riding in search of a new spot, learn a new trick or two, and have intelligent conversations

Any other words?
In life, there are followers and then there are leaders. Most people out there are followers and do not get far in life. Make sure you have a solid education and network with as many people as possible. The chances of getting a quality job by applying online are slim. However, if you are a leader and network with good people then the chances of receiving a quality job increases dramatically. Other than that, do not make enemies with anyone even if dislike them or do not agree with them. Just worry about yourself and your friends and be the best person that you can be.
